100 Headlines for 100 Days

Learn with me as I bullseye messages & phrasing 10,000 different ways

Messaging. Oy.

Headlines, crossheads, taglines, bold phrases — If you don’t nail them, you lose your reader.

But when you do…

You catch the casual skimmer. The window shopper. The red-headed girl at the coffee shop with 142 browser tabs open. And you land a fan for life. Because you become the sparkle that grabs their attention.

Great messages make it easy for readers to read.

You get your point across quickly and you become more effective.

I want to be The Message Master

The guru. The guide. The go-to-guy for nailing your purpose in as few words as possible.

So here’s what I’m going to do about it.

I’m going to write 10,000 messages

For the next 100 days, I’m going to write 100 messages, every day. Sometimes more. I’m going to choose 1 product or service and I’m gonna go to town. Some will be existing businesses — some will be completely made up. Whatever strikes me that day will get a boatload o’ lines dumped on ‘em.

After every 10 posts, you can read a recap

Having done a practice run, I can tell you this ain’t easy.

You’ll be able to learn with me as I drive toward 10,000 (Gulp) messages.

I’ll tell you what’s working and what processes I kick to the curb. You tell me which lines you like… or stink.

You’re welcome to use anything I post for yourself

Consider it a 10,000 line swipe file. Add ‘em to your bookmarks and make your big bag o’ tricks even bigger.

Once they’re out there, they’re out there.

Also, dad jokes.

Why 10,000 lines?

Because that’s the number of committed hours Malcolm Gladwell determined makes you a master of your class. And while I realize 10,000 headlines is not 10,000 hours, it seems like a pretty good (scary as evil death-clowns) number to strive for.

Admittedly, the first few are going to be r-o-u-g-h. But that’s the point, right? You’ll see me hone down my process and figure out what formulas and methods I like best.

I’m hoping post #100 rivals the industry greats.

You be the judge. Judger.
